A Little About Me

Hello everyone! My name is Jamie, one of the bloggers for the website. As far as basic information about me, I am 16 years old, born and raised in Connecticut, and I’ve been horseback riding for almost nine years. I addition to being an average junior in high school and enjoying all of the stressors that come along with that, like the dreaded college search, SATs, AP classes, and many others, I am also horseback riding full time. As of right now, I am riding a variety of horses, as I am currently doing IEA competitions and need to be prepared for whatever type of horse I draw at any given show, my two main horses are named Dallas and CoCo. Dallas is a 15.2hh bay quarter horse, who I compete in the pleasure classes with, and CoCo is a 15hh quarter horse who I will be doing the children’s equitation and low training jumpers with this coming show season.

This past year has been quite the whirlwind for me when it comes to horses. In early September of 2013 I decided to leave the small barn I had been at for five years, in exchange for a barn with more of a presence on the show circuit. I spent ten months at a barn with the circuit presence I had desired, but incredibly missed the “family” atmosphere that came with the small barn I was so used to. So I again began the barn search, I looked high and low for the barn I dreamed of, until I found the perfect fit. A big barn with a circuit presence, but also a family atmosphere was definitely hard to find but I am incredibly happy I made the switch. Within a month of being at this new barn, I started a lease on Dallas, and qualified for our local circuit finals, where we placed sixth in a competitive class.

Outside of horses, I make an effort to maintain a well-rounded resume. I am a member of the National Honor Society, a contributor to the town art show, and I attended the National Young Leadership State Conference a few years back. I try very hard to keep my grades up, it’s the least I can do for my parents who have to foot the bill for my riding! This was just a quick insight into who I am, I look forward to sharing my point of view on products, events, riders, and may other things with you all in the near future!
