International equestrian event for student riders comes to Wellington

WELLINGTON — The Stadium at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington is hosting an international competition for student riders today through Thursday.

The 2014 World University Equestrian Federation’s Student Rider Nations Cup Final brings students from 12 countries to compete in a combination of dressage and show-jumping.

It’s the first event the federation has held in the United States in more than 10 years, according to Equestrian Sport Productions, which manages events at The Stadium (also known locally as Equestrian Village).

Competitors in the Student Rider Nations Cup Final are enrolled at a university or graduate school while they compete. For more information, log on to www.aiecworld.com.

Competition begins at 8 a.m. today, 8:45 a.m. Wednesday and 9:45 a.m. Thursday.
